Is Your Vehicle Ready for Winter?

Tips for winterizing your vehicle

Posted: 12/13/2022

As the temperatures continue to drop, there are four key areas you want to make sure are functioning correctly on your vehicle. Our Tire & Service Center team in Stratford would be happy to help.

  1. Battery – It’s no surprise that temperatures can affect your battery’s performance and life expectancy. Did you know that if the temperature drops below zero degrees, the battery can lose up to 50% of its cranking power? The average battery life is between three and five years, so be sure to have your battery load tested.
  2. Tires – With our snowy Wisconsin winters, we know our tires need good traction. You can visually check the condition of your tires by looking to see if the tread or sidewalls have any cracking. You will also want to maintain the air pressure in your tires and ensure sufficient tread depth for the best traction.
  3. Cooling System – Check all hoses for cracking or soft spots and replace them as needed. Also, be sure the antifreeze is the appropriate strength to prevent overheating.
  4. Routine Maintenance - We all know that problems can occur at unexpected times, but that’s why routine maintenance is important. It prolongs the life of your vehicle and typically pays for itself over time.

Our Tire & Service Center team in Stratford, Wisconsin would be happy to help. Call 715-687-4139 to schedule an appointment for them to check your battery, tires, cooling system, or do other general maintenance to make sure your vehicle is ready.
